If you watch late-night TV, you've obviously heard the jabs at members of The Who, as they prepare to take the stage for the Superbowl XLIV Halftime Show. Many of the younger fans are rolling their eyes at yet another "old" band performing for the Superbowl's Halftime Show, but they should certainly take heed. I, for one, would expect a phenomenal performance.
I guess I look at such a performance, however, a bit differently than today's college age or 20-something crew might perceive it. I see The Who as part of my history, and look forward to their performance during the Superbowl XLIV Halftime Show later today.
The Who is legendary, and is noted for the best live performances from all of the intact classic rock bands from the "days of old." Their performance today at the Superbowl XLIV Halftime Show will likely resonate with many of us who enjoyed rock in the 60's and 70's.
At today's Superbowl XLIV Halftime Show, it is anticipated that The Who will perform a mix of the following songs, culminating in the climactic finale that finishes "Tommy." Preceding that finale are expected to be "Pinball Wizard," "Who Are You?" "Baba O'Riley," and "Won't Get Fooled Again."
For those of you truly dreading The Who's performance at today's Superbowl XLIV Halftime Show, do bear in mind that in addition to the legendary show of rapidly aging rock stars, there will be a little football played as well!
